Three credits of mathematics are needed to satisfy Pueblo School District 70 graduation requirements in the mathematics area, and the Academy follows district mathematics standards.
The math department at the Pueblo Technical Academy is equipped to offer six levels of mathematics. Those available during any given school year depends upon the need of the students. Math courses must be taken in this specific sequence:

The highest level a student attains will depend on the level at which the student begins. Students who successfully completed general math in the eighth grade will be ready for Pre-algebra; those who received instruction in Pre-algebra in middle school will be placed in Algebra 1. Incoming freshmen who have had Algebra 1 will enter Geometry. |

*Note: Students who plan to attend a four-year college after graduation should complete Algebra 2. |

Courses taught through the Mathematics Department at the Pueblo Technical Academy are based upon the District 70 Mathematics Standards as a minimum requirement of what students should know and be able to do. |

1. Number Sense: Students develop number sense and use numbers and number relationships in problem situations and communicate the reasoning used in solving these problems. |

|
2. Patterning: Students use algebraic methods to explore, model and describe patterns and functions involving numbers, shapes, data and graphs. |
||||
|
3. Probability and Statistics: Students use data collection and analysis, statistics and probability in problem situations and communicate the reasoning and processing used in solving these problems. |
||||
|
4. Geometry: Students use geometric concepts, properties and relationships to solve life-related problems. |
||||
|
5. Measurement: Students use a variety of measuring tools and techniques in problem and every day situations. |
||||
|
6. Computation: Students link knowledge of concepts and procedures as they develop and use computational skills and techniques in problem solving situations. |
